Georgia Senate Resolution 533

A RESOLUTION
1 Expressing regret at the passing of the Reverend William Houston Preskitt and Mrs. Martha
2 Pittman Preskitt; and for other purposes.
3 WHEREAS, the Reverend William Houston Preskitt and Mrs . Martha Pittman Preskitt
4 passed away as a result of a tragic traffic accident on Thursday, February 15, 2007, and
5 entered heaven hand-in-hand, as they had gone through life; and
6 WHEREAS, Reverend Preskitt was born in Wetumpka, Alabama, on August 9, 1925, the son
7 of William Nolan Preskitt and Birdie Thompson Preskitt; and
8 WHEREAS, Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt was born on June 20, 1932 in LaGrange, Georgia,
9 the daughter of the Reverend Wallace B. Pittman and Nettie Ruth Pittman; and
10 WHEREAS, Rev. Preskitt served his country in Germany during the Second World War, and
11 he and his wife labored in the Lordīs vineyards together for over 53 years after their marriage
12 on February 21, 1953 in her hometown of LaGrange; and
13 WHEREAS, they are survived by their four children, William Houston Preskitt, Jr.,
14 Michael Preskitt, Joan Preskitt Hedden, and Ruth Preskitt Vollrath, six grandchildren, and three
15 great-grandchildren; and
16 WHEREAS, this lovely couple lived together in the service of their God, and their entry into
17 their eternal reward has been long assured and now is accomplished.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
19 express regret at the passing of the Reverend William Houston P re skitt and Mrs. Martha
20 Pittman Preskitt, and extend condolences to their grieving family and friends.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Se c re tary o f the Senate is authorized and directed
22 to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of the Reverend William
23 Houston Preskitt and Mrs. Martha Pittman Preskitt.
